TPE (Thermoplastic Elastomer) is a thermoplastic rubber with high elasticity, high strength, high resilience, and injection molding characteristics. It is environmentally friendly, non-toxic and safe, has a wide range of hardness, excellent colorability, soft touch, weather resistance, fatigue resistance and temperature resistance, superior processing performance, does not require vulcanization, can be recycled to reduce costs, and can be used for secondary injection molding. It can be covered and bonded with PP, PE, PC, PS, ABS and other base materials, and it can also be molded separately. Thermoplastic elastomers have both the processing properties of thermoplastics and the physical properties of vulcanized rubber, which can be described as the combination of advantages of plastic and rubber.
Due to the special properties of SEBS and SBS rubber materials, TPE as a blended modified material has a relatively large specific gravity range. The density of TPE material can be adjusted from 0.84 to 2.0. Generally, the TPE \ TPR soft material used for injection molding has a specific gravity of about 0.9 to 1.25, and some special TPE \ TPR has a small or super high specific gravity. Such as ultra-soft hardness TPE, this type of TPE usually refers to materials with a Shore hardness of 0 ~ 15A or even lower. The components mainly include process oil and SBS (SEBS), without polypropylene PP and inorganic fillers. It is between 0.84 and 0.88. TPE materials with ultra-high specific gravity have a specific gravity between 1.3 and 2.0. This type of TPE / TPR is mainly added with a lot of fillers, which greatly increases the specific gravity of the material. Highly filled, high specific gravity TPE is mainly used to produce environmentally friendly rubber toys. Increasing the specific gravity can reduce the cost of the product, but the tensile strength and elasticity of the material, and the wear resistance will be reduced. Which one to choose.
The shrinkage of TPE is different for different substrates. For example, the water resistance of SBS or SEBS as the substrate is very good, so the issue of shrinkage is generally not discussed. TPUs based on polar materials such as polyester or polyether are not resistant to water, but they generally swell rather than shrink when exposed to water, and the conditions of use are not all uncertain. Generally we say it is about 1.5 ~ 3%. Different types of TPE \ TPR materials have different shrinkage rates. Specific consultation with the supplier.
